The Nail Files

Well I'm off to Panama City all weekend for a wedding. My nails are colored with Fiji by Essie. This is one of my go-to nail polishes. It's classic, sophisticated, neutral and just beautiful. I saw it on Emily back when she was on The Bachelor and immediately fell in love. So much so that this is my 3rd bottle!
Please don't judge the painting job. I was running behind schedule last night so I didn't have time to paint them. While we were waiting for our food today at lunch, I decided to pull out the polish real quick and get a few coats on. Yep, I did that.

What nail polish are you wearing for the weekend? Link up with us over at Vicki's blog to join in on the fun! :)

All things mint

At the moment, I'm obsessed with pastels. I can't help it. Something about them are just so gorgeous, particularly this beautiful mint color. I want it in every part of my life. My bedroom, my jewelry, my tops, my pants, my shoes.. Shall I keep going?
There ya have it, a post devoted to this beautiful color. If you find any cute pieces in this color, send them my way.

Happy Friday :)

R.I.P Straigtener

While I was getting ready for work yesterday, my straightener broke! Talk about a horrible way to start your day. I'm been faithful to the Chi brand for 7 years, going through 8 Chi's during that time. I'm a creature of habit, what can I say?

This last broken one has made me rethink my options. Sure Chi is much less expensive than it once was, but it's also no longer the best.

I need something that works, realllyy works. My hair is extremely thick and, at times, hard to handle. I need one that works even if I don't spend 2-hours on my hair. I also use my straightener to curl my hair, because a curling iron doesn't curl my hair at all. Sometimes I'll use my curling wand, like I did today, but that gives me a tighter curl than my straightener does.

My first thought it the GHD Pink Orchid. I hear the GHD might just be the best on the market. Not only that, but how gorgeous is she?
At a whopping $240 dollars, she better be gorgeous! They sell the regular ones, without all the fancy colors, for $225 on their website. Part of me wants the pretty one, but I've also heard that the colored ones don't work as well. Not for GHD particularly, just other brands.

I asked some friends on Facebook and I got some great advice back. So far I've heard the Babyliss Nano Titanium, Argan Heart, Tool Science, Paul Mitchell, Sedu, and Solano.

I'm looking to get it tonight. I can't live without a straightener for more than 48-hours! So any suggestions you ladies might have, I'm all ears!

A little weekend view

Please excuse the crappy photo quality. I haven't uploaded my camera pics yet and, although I love everything else about my Epic, it surely has been taking some extremely poor photos.

iPhone countdown - approximately 5 months, at least I think that's when the 5 should be coming out :)

I began my weekend by having dinner and drinks with some family, most notably Landyn ;)
Some of our best friends were in town from Nola & another friend had just graduated so we visited with them at our favorite neighborhood bar.

After a few shots, every single one of us were quite tipsy.
Saturday morning I went to see my new twin cousins. I went to the hospital when they were born a month ago but they were in ICU so this was the first time I got to hold them :) Ahh, I love twins!
After that I took my Landyn to his friends 2nd birthday party. Yes, he has a ton of friends. He's a popular little boy. He played in the pool and had a blast!

After I grabbed lunch at Chilis with the boyfriend and our friend Kevin. They both aren't huge margarita drinkers but they got the Corona Rita's in the spirit of Cinco de Mayo :)
From there we headed downtown for a little daytime drinking and bounced around a few block parties. It was INSANE, to say the least. Luckily I was driving so I kept myself on a few beer limit. Around 9ish we hurried to a friends house to catch the Mayweather/Cotto fight. I'm thoroughly depressed the, yet again, Mayweather didn't get knocked out, but it's coming, I can feel it.

Sunday consisted of shopping for the wedding that I will be attending this weekend, babysitting my angel, soccer game, dinner with my Mema and family since it's the first time she was allowed to leave the rehab facility.

After dinner, Justin and I just hung out at my mom's house, playing with Landyn. All of a sudden, Justin and my sister both felt like cooking, they went to the store at 8 and decided to cook 3 different recipes ranging from dinner to deserts. I was exhausted but that gave me more time to paint my nails and hang with LJ :)

I forgot to look at the color name but it's by Essie, possibly turquoise & caicos? I can't be sure though.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to read all weekend, but I was able to catch up during my lunch break today.

I mean is there anythign better than Chick-fil-a tea and Christian Grey? I think not.

Toodles :)

The Nail Files

The Nail Files
I'm finally linking up with The Nail Files with Vicki and Tara. Truth be told, I've wanted to do this link up for as long as I can remember and I always either forget, or don't have my nails painted that day. GASP!

Normally, I'm religious about painting my nails, like twice a week religious. I've been slackin' though!
My toes are Essie Bachelorette Party. Love Essie always. My fingernails are Confetti Dance Party, which is made by CVS. I'm a huge fan of Walgreens brand of nail polish called Sinful, but I think I've bought every color they have ever made, so I figured Confetti would allow me to get new colors to choose from. At $1.99 a pop, these are sure to make my wallet a bit happier than an $8.50 bottle of OPI or Essie.. Unfortunately, I'm just not a fan of Confetti, it's extremely thin and I have to do a million coats for it to just look 'OK.'

Well there's my Nail Files.

Any generic brands that you guys love?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

What I'm Loving Wednesday with Jamie

I'm loving that my nephew is spending the night with me tonight.

I'm loving that it's Wednesday. Only two more days of waking up early until the weekend. It's odd, I still find myself waking up just as early on the weekends, but something about it not being forced wakes me up more.

I'm loving this picture I found that could have easily been made by me :)
I'm loving that this weekend is Cinco de Mayo. To be honest, I want to do nothing but sleep but I'm sure the next 72-hours will change my mind.

I'm loving Fifty Shades of Grey. I said it in one of my last posts and I'll say it again - this book is incredible. I finally got some time to read last night after getting home at almost midnight. So happy to say that I finished the first book and I'm dying to start the second. Granted, I had to stay up to 2 in the morning, but it was well worth the lack of sleep. Way to leave me hangin', EJ James.

I'm loving that I'm Jessica Simpson has finally given birth. I'm not loving the name though, Maxwell Drew Johnson. Did I mention it was a little girl? What's up with celebs always wanted to have something ridiculously different? Not a fan. While we're at it, I would have preferred the last name to be Lachey ;)

I'm loving that we went to a new place for dinner last night. Truth be told, the most frustrating thing about everyday is agreeing where/what we will eat. When a new place opens, I know that will be one less day of decision making. The bonus was the the food was good and my wine came in this nifty little bottle - plus, it was TWO glasses :)
Happy Hump Day! What are you loving this Wednesday?

Help Find Us!

Help find these beautiful missing children!
1.) Isabel Celis
This beautiful 6-year old little girl vanished during the night from her Tuscon, Arizona home nearly 2-weeks ago. Isabel was reported missing at 8 a.m at on April 21st when her father went to check on her in the morning and noticed she was gone. Police say that the parents are cooperating with Police and are currently not suspects. However, police have urged them to continue speaking out to keep the case in the public eye, but they have failed to due so. Cadaver dogs hit on a location inside the home that was "important" and have obtained search warrants for nearby homes. Unfortunately, there are currently no suspects in the case. This past Saturday the search was expanded to Mexico. Investigators say that is is very realistic that someone crossed the border, snatched Isabel  and returned to Mexico.
2.) Kelli Bordeaux
A Fort bragg soldier has been missing for 2-weeks now and investigators still have no suspects in the case. Kelli was last seen at Froggy Bottoms Bar in Fayeteville, NC around 1:00 am on April 14, 2012. Unfortunately, Kelli wasn't reported missing until the following Monday after she failed to show up for duty. Kelli is married, however, her husband was in Florida visiting family at the time of her disappearance. Nicholas Herbert, a 25-year old bartender at Froggy Bottoms who failed to register as a sex offender, was the last to see Kelli alive after dropping her off at her apartment complex that night. There was a text message sent from her phone later that night saying she was home safe.
The photo below is a photo of Kelli that she took before she went out that evening. So she could very well be still in this clothing.
3.) Madeline Mccain
Perhaps one the most well known missing persons case in the world, little Madeline was only 3 when she vanished from her hotel room in Portugal back on May 3, 2007. This coming Thursday marks 5-years since her disappearance. Madeline's parents were dining approximately 100 feet away while their children slept in their hotel room. There have been many reported sitings of Madeline, however, none have turned into anything more promising. A few days ago police released a photo of what Madeline could look like today.
One of the most heartbreaking things about these cases is that someone knows something. Even if you don't think what you saw could be of importance, you never know until that information is in the hands of someone that may know how to connect the dots. If you have any information on any of these missing people, please call crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS!
